Top Predators Need to Eat Something

Dunkleosteus is considered the top predator of its time (415 – 360 million years ago). It grew up to 8 to 10 meters long. But what does an animal this size eat? And what does one do with those huge slicing jaws? I theorize an even larger filter feeder of the time that held the whale niche. Very tasty treats for Dunkleosteus. Again I have included my friend here to encourage him to make a firsthand examination. This could get dicey…

    Er, believe it or not the whale-arthrodire you drew above actually exists. It’s called Titanichthys, but unfortunately it’s only about the same size as Dunkleosteus.
